Pine Island Airport property is zoned agricultural with an exception for 20 hangars a house and a barn. It currently has 7 "T" Hangars. There is a 2 bedroom 2 bath double wide home that has been remodeled after the storm. It is on 18.85 acres surrounded by drainage ditches like a mote. The front has a security gate and has never had security problems since I purchased it in 2002.
Pine Island Airport airstrip is 2700' East West and 120' wide well maintained and ready. Grass strips help slow down the plane and save on tire wear.
Pine Island Airport is Light Sport, Ultralight and PPG friendly. We support being properly trained in not only your flying skills, but aviation awareness and safety around other types of planes.
Pine Island Airport has storage areas for their pilots to store RV's, Trailers, and even Vehicles so a pilot can fly in and enjoy the luxury of their own vehicle to travel, go fishing, or take care of business. We even have a loaner vehicle for local running if you need one.
Pine Island Airport is the home of some Aerial Photography, and Sight Seeing Flights. Some say, the beautiful Lee Islands is the most beautiful area to see from the air. Not only the Islands are beautiful, but due to the shallow gulf waters and Inland water ways the aquatic life is very easy to see from time to time. Dolphins, Manatee, Sea Turtles, Sea Ray and sometimes even a Manta Ray as well as many other schools of fish can be seen in the Lee Islands.
Pine Island Airport has many businesses that like to do Banner Towing as it is near many beaches and a short flight to many local cities and tourist attractions. Some of these are; Matlacha (an artsy community), Gasparilla, Sanibel, Ft Myers and Ft Myers beach.
Pine Island Airport is home of Skydive Ft Myers which is the 7th location of a very professional Skydiving company. They say this area is the most beautiful jump over places like Miami, Los Angels, Vegas and Phoenix.
Pine Island Airport is secured by a live in Manager, Junior Edwards, and a ditch around the airport. The only way in and out is thru our security gate. The code is given to many and never changes. I was once asked if I was concerned about giving the code to so many people. My reply was they can go in, but it just gives Junior time to get his gun... they have to come back out.
The property is surrounded by small farms ranging from 1+ acres to 40 acres in size. In the drawing below the red area is the airport property and the yellow are the small farms. Blue are ponds.

Pine Island Airport is a fun place and we want to keep it that way. Our greeter is named Ellie Mae and yes she is well trained and doesn't get around planes or jump on cars. She does like to ride on Golf Carts. She may be a little spoiled. Her job is to keep the birds off the runway and she does a very good job. She wouldn't hurt a flea, but she may wag her tail a lot. :-)
